How to be more sustainable at home

We all wonder what we have to do to be more sustainable, recycle better, not spend on things we don't need and, ultimately, have a home where not so much is consumed. We have also wondered. For this reason, we have been doing a lot of research to be able to bring you the best advice for having a more sustainable home.

The essentials

Everyone knows that we have to recycle all those containers that we purchase from the products, be it a plastic container, a cardboard box or a glass jar and always in its corresponding container. But we have to think that it would be very good to recycle everything that is bought, but we ask ourselves a question, do you need everything that has been bought? The vast majority will say yes, although we know that many will say more or less or that it was a whim. We recommend that if it is a glass jar it can be reused, that is, give it a new lease on life. You could use it as a boat to store pasta or store kitchen utensils. Or if it's a box, it could be used as object storage.

Another trick that we want to give you is to use energy-saving light bulbs. You will save energy and money and you will see that the lighting in the room is the same as with a traditional bulb. We also recommend that, if you have to change an appliance because it is broken or no longer works, that you buy those where the energy label is green, that is, that the energy class is A+, A++ or A+++, as more +, less consumption the apparatus.

Those who will give a plus

We know that the following recommendations are already more difficult to assume, but they are just as essential and will make you reduce consumption and you will be much more sustainable. In addition, in the long run you will see economic savings.

If you are thinking of doing any reforms at home, use natural paints, those that are not toxic to the environment and, above all, to your health. It is true that natural paints are a little more expensive, but they are ecological and natural, which makes them less polluting for the environment and less dangerous because they emit less harmful waste. In addition, if the work is going to be of greater investiture, we recommend you insulate ceilings, walls and floors, this way we avoid losing said energy when we put on the heating and we also get the home to heat up sooner.

Our last advice, and perhaps the one that has led us to write this article, is to buy decoration that has been created with recycled, recyclable, natural and sustainable materials. It is a small gesture that helps nature and helps ourselves. Use materials and fabrics such as Tencel©, recycled polyester, organic linen, coconut, organic cotton, alpaca wool, natural fibers or wood.
