Tips for a sustainable Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner and the truth is that for this time of year the topic of recycling, sustainability and caring for the planet is getting out of hand. Gift wrapping, gift plastic and a host of materials that are not 100% sustainable. The truth is that it is not only a problem that we must solve alone, brands should think much more when designing the packaging of their products.

We have been researching for some time how to be more sustainable these days.

For a more sustainable home

We know that it is a bit complicated, it is not impossible at all. The Christmas spirit is in each one of us. You don't have to have the whole house with millions and millions of little lights. This makes your light consumption multiply. Use LED and energy-saving light bulbs and turn them on only on designated days.

Handmade is in fashion and we can use it to our advantage for Christmas. We have a quantity of single-use plastic that we can use to decorate the home. You can also use natural materials such as branches, pine cones or leaves. We can make ourselves and with our hands decoration for the Christmas table or decoration for the tree. On the internet there are millions of ideas.

It is inevitable not to generate any waste. It can't be done all year round, you're not going to do it these days either, but try to recycle everything: paper, glass and plastic. One piece of advice that you can follow because it is simple is that you can wrap gifts with the newspapers and magazines that you have at home. Also save to reuse everything you can, like tree lights or decorations you have. You will get an ideal and more sustainable Christmas .

Responsible consumption at Christmas

When we celebrate these holidays, the most important thing is to get together with our own. This is all very well, but you don't have to spend a fortune to please others. For example, we can also be sustainable with Christmas dishes. There are many dishes for these times of the year that have to travel thousands of kilometers to be on our tables. Try that your lunches and dinners have seasonal, local and fresh products and avoid processed and overpackaged foods. You will save!

Gifts for others are fine. It is a time when giving is good, but let's try to make it in local, honest and local shops. Do not buy to buy . Buy what you really see others need. Our motto: consumerism will not make you happier, you will make yourself happy. Gifts do not have to be physical, they can be experiences. At this time, giving away a trip, a gastronomic experience, a walk in the mountains, a morning at a spa or tickets to a show, are a good option where you can enjoy yourself and there will also be no waste.
